Medical artificial intelligence (AI) corporations Lunit said on the 11th that it was selected as a supplier in the bid for a breast cancer diagnosis AI solution by France's largest public hospital purchasing cooperative, UniHA (Union des Hôpitaux pour les Achats).
UniHA is France's largest public health care purchasing cooperative responsible for procuring medical devices for more than 1,500 public hospitals and over 130 regional hospital groups. This bid was conducted for joint purchasing of AI solutions to be used in member hospitals' breast cancer screening.
With this contract win, Lunit's mammography AI "Lunit Insight MMG," 3D digital breast tomosynthesis AI "Lunit Insight DBT," subsidiary Volpara's mammography image quality control solution "Volpara Analytics," and real-time image quality feedback solution "Volpara Live" were added to the product list.
UniHA member hospitals can introduce Lunit Group's products immediately through Fujifilm, a global medical imaging equipment manufacturer, without a separate bidding process. Lunit has been partnering with Fujifilm on overseas expansion.
Lunit plans to use the UniHA contract results as a springboard to expand its influence across the entire European public market. Seo Bum-seok, Lunit's CEO, said, "With this contract, we have secured an opportunity to supply AI solutions on a large scale to public hospitals across France," adding, "Being selected in a highly competitive bid proves the overwhelming technological prowess of Lunit-Volpara in the field of breast cancer screening and is an important achievement that solidifies our position in Europe's core public market."
Bertrand Lepage, head of UniHA's biomedical program, said, "Demand for mammography AI among medical institutions in the network has risen, so we conducted a bid applying strict technical standards," adding, "Our goal is to ensure that public health care institutions can adopt top-tier technology on equal terms with private hospitals."
Eric Kamus, a radiologist at Lille University Hospital, a UniHA member hospital, said, "Lunit AI serves as a reliable support tool that maintains high concentration and accuracy at all times without fatigue," adding, "It helps medical staff maintain their focus."
