A woman in her 50s, who volunteered at a welfare center for the disabled, left this world after giving new life to three people through organ donation.
The Korea Organ Donation Agency (KODA) announced on 4th that Kim Mi-ran (52) passed away after donating her liver and both kidneys at Jeju National University Hospital on 21st of last month. Earlier, she collapsed while talking after finishing a meal with an acquaintance on 8th of last month and was taken to the hospital but did not regain consciousness. Kim registered her wish to donate organs 10 years ago.
Kim was born as the eldest of three children in Seogwipo, Jeju Island. She was a caring and positive person who looked after those around her. After graduating high school, she worked at NongHyup. After getting married, she ran a restaurant with her husband while raising one son and one daughter. Kim enjoyed reading and walking. On weekends, she volunteered at a welfare center for the disabled.
Kim's husband left this letter through the donation agency: "My dear, who was the teacher of my life. I will live happily with the children. Please watch over our kids well. Words of thanks are not enough, but I hope you are doing well in heaven, love you."
