Catholic University Seoul St. Mary's Hospital announced on the 29th that it has appointed Professor Lee Ji-yeol (60), a urology specialist, as the new hospital director. The director is an authority in the field of urological cancer. His term will start next month and run until August 2027.
The director graduated from the Catholic University College of Medicine and obtained his master's and doctoral degrees from the same university. He served as the smart hospital director, the head of the robotic surgery center, and the clinical head of the urology department at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital. He also served as the director of the Catholic University Cancer Research Institute and as the central bank president of human-derived materials at the Biomedical Industry Research Institute.
The director introduced robotic surgery. He was the first in the country to treat metastatic prostate cancer patients unresponsive to chemotherapy with radioactive isotopes. The inauguration ceremony will take place on the 11th of next month at 4 p.m.
