The medical artificial intelligence (AI) corporation Lunit announced on the 19th that it has signed a supply contract for its 3D-based AI breast cancer diagnostic solution 'Lunit Insight DBT' with the imaging diagnostic network Akumin, which provides imaging diagnostic services across the United States.
Based in Plantation, Florida, Akumin is a corporation that offers imaging diagnostics and cancer treatment services in an outsourcing model to medical institutions that find it difficult to establish their own imaging diagnostic facilities. Currently, it operates over 150 imaging centers across 47 states in the United States and collaborates with more than 1,000 medical institutions and physician groups.
'Lunit Insight DBT' is an AI solution that assists medical professionals in diagnosis by analyzing 3D Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) imaging data.
Seo Beom-seok, CEO of Lunit, noted, "While Lunit solutions are already being utilized at many imaging centers in the U.S., the partnership with Akumin will allow more patients to access AI-based cancer diagnostic services." He added, "We will continue to lead the global shift in cancer diagnostics through AI development and dissemination tailored to the needs of medical practice."
Nasir Siddiqui, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Akumin, stated, "Lunit's AI will provide tangible value to both patients and healthcare providers based on robust clinical data and proven performance," adding, "This introduction will elevate Akumin's imaging diagnostic services to the next level."
