A man in his 60s who fell into a coma saved the lives of others through organ donation and passed away.
The Korea Organ Donation Agency (KODA) stated on the 7th that Mr. Lee Hoon, 61, save four lives through brain death organ donation at Gangnam Severance Hospital in Seoul on the 27th of last month.
Mr. Lee was urgently transported to the hospital due to a brain hemorrhage while sleeping on the 15th of last month. Despite active treatment from medical staff, he did not regain consciousness and fell into a coma, donating his lungs, liver, and kidneys (both) to save four lives.
He often said, "It would be nice to do something good that helps someone when I leave." The family decided to honor that wish by proceeding with the donation.
Born as the youngest of four siblings in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, Mr. Lee worked as a Director General at an accounting office. He loved to socialize, having served as the regional president in high school, and had a warm personality, always looking out for those around him and helping those in need. He also had a hobby of collecting cameras. He would always take pictures for the family on special occasions, and now those photos remain a precious gift for the family.
The deceased's daughter, Lee Yoo-joo, left this letter through the donation agency: "Dad, you shared warm hearts and love while being with us, and I thank you for bringing hope to others even in our final farewell. I am so proud and will remember you forever. Please always watch over us from heaven. I love you, Dad."
