The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency noted on the 5th that it will discuss 'One Health cooperation' with member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). One Health is an approach that views human, animal, and environmental health as interconnected and addresses them together. It is gaining attention as the risk of emerging infectious diseases increases.
This is the first day's event of the '2nd APEC Health Working Group Meeting.' Professor Yoo Han-sang of Seoul National University will give a keynote speech and lead three sessions on coordination, cooperation and communication, and capacity building. The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, Taiwan Centers for Disease Control, Australia's Department of Health, Disability, and Aging, Singapore's Ministry of Health, and Thailand's Disease Control Department will participate.
Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency Director Lim Seung-kwan said, 'Health threats are becoming complex after the COVID-19 pandemic,' and emphasized that 'One Health is important for responding to these challenges.' He also expressed his hope for cooperation among APEC member economies.
