Domestic satellite startup TelePIX will begin supplying satellite images obtained through its artificial intelligence (AI) cube satellite 'BlueBond' to the European market. TelePIX stated that this is the first case in the world where satellite images based on domestic cube satellites have generated revenue.
TelePIX announced on the 4th that it signed a sales rights contract for 'BlueBond' images in Europe with a satellite corporation based in Poland. The corporation will sell TelePIX's satellite images across Europe through its own solutions.
The scale of the contract is $300,000 (about 416.5 million won), and the revenue from image sales will be partitioned between the two companies. This also includes a subscription for TelePIX's satellite image analysis AI agent 'SatChat' as software as a service (SaaS).
'BlueBond' is a 6U (units) cube satellite, weighing only 15 kg. 1U refers to a size of 10 cm in width, length, and height. BlueBond is equipped with a multi-spectral camera developed by TelePIX, capable of capturing images identifying ground objects of about 4.8 m in size. It also has a space-grade AI processor 'TetraFlex' installed.
Jeon Seung-hwan, the head of TelePIX's global business division, noted, 'The fact that it will be commercially sold through Poland, a member country of the European Space Agency (ESA), is a result of being recognized for our technological capabilities in the international market.' He added, 'As a leading company in the K-space era, we will continue to take the lead in the global expansion of the domestic new space industry.'
