The Korea Federation of Science and Technology Societies (KOFST) held its 4th board meeting on the 30th at the Korea Science and Technology Center in Gangnam, Seoul, and announced that it elected Commissioner Kim Min-soo (a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University) as the acting president to fill the vacancy left by the recently resigned former president Lee Tae-sik.
During this board meeting, Kim Min-soo was elected as the new acting president following a vote by the board of directors in accordance with Article 13 (Duties of Officers) of the bylaws, and the new acting president will perform the duties of the president until the next president takes office.
Acting President Kim Min-soo graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University and earned both a master's and a doctoral degree in the same field. He is currently a full member of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea and serves as the Chairperson of the Membership Committee, as well as the chair of the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) General Assembly.
Acting President Kim Min-soo said, "I recognize the serious issues that KOFST is facing and the demands of the science and technology community, and I will do my best to ensure organizational stability and restore trust."
KOFST added that it plans to conduct follow-up procedures for the election of the next president quickly and transparently in accordance with its regulations.
