A person in their 20s who lost their sight at the age of 2 saved three people through organ donation before passing away.
The Korea Organ Donation Agency (KODA) announced on the 17th that Im Dong-jin (28) passed away after donating his heart and both kidneys at The Catholic University of Korea on May 16. He was transported to the hospital after having a meal with his father on Parent's Day, May 8, and not regaining consciousness. He fell into a state of brain death, and his family decided to donate his organs.
Im lost his sight at the age of 2 after cancer was discovered in his eyes when he was 9 months old. He underwent chemotherapy at the hospital until he started school. His mother passed away after heart valve surgery when Im was in the second year of middle school. His father, who is visually impaired, raised him single-handedly.
Im graduated with a degree in social welfare and worked to assist the employment of people with disabilities. He was typically cheerful and had a bright personality. His father left this letter through the donation agency: "Although there were tough and joyful times until now, I hope you rest easy and have fun with your mom in heaven. Don't be sick and live happily. I love you, my son."
