Alteogen announced on the 7th that it has hired Lee Young-pil, former CEO of Jincore, as vice president and chief product officer (CPO).
The new vice president is a biopharmaceutical development expert with over 20 years of experience at LG CHEM Life Science Division and Samsung Bioepis. He particularly led all aspects of chemistry, manufacturing, and quality (CMC) and played a key role in obtaining regulatory approvals for seven anticancer and immuno biosimilars in the U.S. and Europe.
Until recently, he served as co-CEO of Jincore, a gene therapy corporation, where he led the establishment of research and development (R&D) strategies and business development. Based on his extensive experience from cell line development to analytical method development and validation, as well as medical device development, the company expects his expertise will aid in product development and commercialization using various platforms.
Alteogen appointed Lee Young-pil as vice president-level chief product officer (CPO), overseeing CMC, quality, production, and product commercialization. The CPO position is generally used for product strategy leaders in the IT and platform industry. The company adopted this role for more strategic and effective leadership in implementing core technologies into actual commercial products. The new vice president is said to have stepped into the bio industry due to his connection with Park Soon-jae, CEO of Alteogen.
Vice President Lee Young-pil said, "Based on the experiences accumulated with CEO Park Soon-jae, I will do my best to inherit the founder's management philosophy and ensure that Alteogen grows into a stable and sustainable global bio company."
