An 11-year-old child saved three lives through organ donation and passed away.
The Korea Organ Donation Agency (KODA) reported on the 2nd that Yeonwoo Kim (11) passed away after donating his heart and both kidneys at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital on the 24th of last month. After receiving vaccinations in pediatrics, he showed symptoms where one side of his forehead and face did not move while crying. He underwent emergency brain surgery at 60 days old and lived for about 10 years on a ventilator.
Kim's brain function deteriorated due to cardiac arrest in 2019, making it increasingly difficult for his organs to function over time. His family decided to donate, hoping that Kim could continue to live a happy life in someone else's body.
Kim's family left this letter through the donation agency: "Yeonwoo, thank you for being born as our son. You had a lot of hardships before arriving in this world. Let's make sure to meet again and do the things we couldn't do. I was happy because of you. I love you so much."
