Medical artificial intelligence (AI) corporation Lunit is jointly developing next-generation medical AI solutions with global tech giant Microsoft (MS).
Lunit announced on the 2nd that it will apply cancer diagnostic AI technology to MS's cloud service, Azure, to jointly develop an AI service and workflow automation services that can be easily used by each hospital. As this is the first collaboration with a big tech corporation, the company expects that this will accelerate AI product supply in the global market, including the United States.
The two companies will develop an 'AI customization service' that allows hospitals to adjust AI models according to their specific situations. This will provide customized AI models that can utilize the unique medical data each hospital possesses.
Additionally, they will develop a service that enables a type of autonomous AI technology, known as 'Agentic AI', to perform all hospital tasks—from medical imaging for patients to diagnosis, result delivery, and follow-up appointments—without human intervention. This is intended to reduce the workload of medical staff and increase patient consultation speed.
The AI solutions developed by both companies can be accessed remotely through MS Azure without the need for medical institutions around the world to establish separate IT infrastructure.
Seo Beom-seok, CEO of Lunit, said, 'Collaboration with MS will be a pivotal turning point in expanding Lunit's world-class AI technology to more medical institutions, significantly influencing the global market, including the United States.'
Naveen Baluri, an executive in charge of health data and AI at MS, noted, 'I look forward to combining Lunit's proven technological capabilities with MS's global infrastructure to create next-generation solutions that will innovate not only the field of medical imaging but also the broader future of healthcare.'
