The meeting was organized as part of active administration to resolve intellectual property challenges in the field of women venture businesses and to strengthen intellectual property competitiveness and promote global outreach. Women venture business representatives who attended the meeting proposed shortening patent review periods for emerging industries and new technologies, and requested efforts to improve regulations, including the provision of guidelines for patent transfer contracts and annual fee payment procedures.
The Gwangju National Science Museum announced that it successfully hosted a talk concert with Dr. So-yeon Yi, the first astronaut from Korea, on June 28. This talk concert was organized as a pre-event for the '2025 Gwangju National Science Museum Dome Film Festival' scheduled to take place in August, where Dr. Yi shared vivid stories from her selection as an astronaut to her space mission experiences with the audience. During the event, Dr. Yi shared her experiences living on the International Space Station, conducting space science experiments, and memorable moments as an astronaut. A subsequent Q&A session allowed for honest communication with aspiring young space enthusiasts.
Yonsei University hosted a global conference titled 'IYQ Global Event: Public Engagement with Quantum Science and Technology' from June 27 to 29, commemorating the '2025 International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ),' officially designated by UNESCO. This event was particularly significant as the first official IYQ global event held in Asia. The conference consisted of a total of four sessions, focusing on public engagement through art and gaming, modern scientific communication based on social media and artificial intelligence (AI), engagement with industry and other field experts, and a session organized by the OECD for policymakers.
The Korea Federation of Science and Technology Societies hosted the opening ceremony of the '2025 International Space University Space Studies Program (SSP25)' on the ERICA Campus of Hanyang University on the 30th. SSP25 is the fourth international space research program held in Asia and the first of its kind in Korea, with 123 future space leaders, space industry officials, researchers, and graduate students from 37 countries participating. Following the opening ceremony, various programs will be conducted, including key lectures, activities in seven subfields, team projects, institutional tours, a rocket launch event, and a closing ceremony. Special lectures and space panel discussions will also be open to the general public.
