On the 1st, Astellas Korea, the Korean branch of the global life sciences corporation Astellas, announced the appointment of Baek So-young as the new Market Access Head.
Baek holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Sookmyung Women's University and a master's degree in pharmaceutical economics from Sungkyunkwan University. Before joining Astellas Korea, she gained over 18 years of experience in market access and marketing departments at global healthcare corporations including Daiichi Sankyo Korea, Sanofi Korea, and MSD Korea.
In particular, she oversaw market access in the oncology division of Daiichi Sankyo Korea, leading the inclusion of breast cancer and gastric cancer antibody-drug conjugates in the health insurance coverage in April of last year. For her contributions to the organization's growth, she was also selected as one of the global top 3 employees in the development and growth category of the Core Behavior Award, hosted by Daiichi Sankyo headquarters.
Kim Jun-il, the representative of Astellas Korea, noted, "I expect that Baek will greatly contribute to improving patient access so that Astellas Korea's innovative cancer treatments and various innovative medicines to be launched in the future can be provided to actual patients in clinical settings."
