Medical artificial intelligence (AI) corporation Lunit on the 1st stated that there are no plans to sell shares held by Chairperson Baek Seung-wook, whose protective custody is being lifted on the 21st, and Chief Executive Officer Seo Beom-seok this year.
The total number of shares for Chairperson Baek and CEO Seo being released this time is 2,307,053 shares. Since the initial public offering on July 21, 2022, Chairperson Baek and CEO Seo have maintained a total protective custody of three years, including one year of mandatory holding period and an additional voluntary protective custody of two years. Currently, founder Chairperson Baek holds 1,976,864 shares (6.82% equity), while CEO Seo holds 330,189 shares (1.14% equity).
Lunit explained, "Chairperson Baek and CEO Seo purchased 7,747 shares of the company worth a total of 600 million won last December in response to the decline in stock prices," and noted, "This decision regarding their holdings is also a measure to show shareholders confidence in the company's intrinsic value and a commitment to enhancing shareholder value."
Recently, concerns about the major shareholder's stock disposal have been raised in some market circles. This is because it is time to repay the stock-backed loan of over 20 billion won that arose from participating 100% in a capital increase worth 200 billion won implemented by Chairperson Baek in August 2023.
In this regard, Chairperson Baek emphasized, "As a major shareholder, I clearly tell our shareholders that there are absolutely no plans to sell my equity this year to strengthen responsible management."
CEO Seo said, "We joined forces with Chairperson Baek to resolve concerns about stock sales stemming from the lifting of protective custody," and noted, "Lunit is actively pursuing joint projects with various business and strategic partners, including large global pharmaceutical companies, and is embarking on growth as a global corporation."
