Dong-A Pharmaceutical announced on the 27th that its pet care brand, Vetple, will package its products in an environmentally friendly manner. Vetple introduces nutritional supplements for dogs and cats. Instead of just discarding the product packaging, it is designed for pets to play with as toys.
The product case is made from pulp recycled from paper waste. The band is made from materials certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This certification guarantees that the paper comes from forests that are managed sustainably. After unpacking the product, a hole can be drilled in the case to use it for pet nose work or food puzzles.
Vetple believes that to protect the environment of the Earth is essential for pets to live within it. A Vetple representative noted, "Climate change, such as heatwaves and cold snaps, impacts pets' temperature regulation and limits outdoor activities," adding, "When the atmosphere is polluted, pets are exposed to respiratory diseases." They further stated, "Walking by contaminated rivers or streams poses a health threat to pets due to heavy metals and chemicals."
Vetple engages in volunteer work and support for stray animals. The Dong-A Sogyo Group volunteer club "Dong-A Petner" visits animal shelters once a month. They walk and bathe dogs or participate in cat socialization activities. Last year, they donated 20 million won to the stray animal welfare organization "Baladang."
Vetple collaborates with Dong-A Pharmaceutical veterinarians and pet experts in product development. A Vetple representative stated, "We will not only focus on creating eco-friendly products but also think about concrete ways to practice sustainability in everyday life."
