Park Dan, Chairperson of the Korean Resident Association (Daejeon Federation), expressed his intention to resign. Chairperson Park engaged in a strong protest during the medical politics conflict but remained silent externally after the new government took office.
According to the medical community on the 24th, Chairperson Park announced to the residents of each hospital that he intends to 'resign from all positions.' He noted, 'I have done my best over the past year and a half, but I only brought disappointment,' and added, 'everything is my fault.' He also expressed hope that the situation will be resolved soon, asking, 'Please take good care of the students until the end.'
Chairperson Park was elected as the president of the Daejeon Federation for the 27th term in 2023. When the government pushed for an expansion of medical school enrollment in February of last year, the Daejeon Federation transitioned to a committee system and Chairperson Park took over the chairperson position. Chairperson Park has represented the residents, arguing for the complete cancellation of the medical school increase.
Chairperson Park also holds the position of vice president of the Korean Medical Association Organization. It seems that it will take some time for him to resign from the position of vice president.
