Pohang University of Science and Technology POSTECH will select foreign undergraduate students starting in the fall semester of the 2026 academic year.
The newly established admissions processes include the International Admissions I for pure foreign students and International Admissions II for overseas Koreans and foreigners. The International Admissions I is for applicants whose parents and the applicant themselves hold foreign nationalities, and foreign nationality must be acquired before starting an education program equivalent to domestic high school education. The International Admissions II is for those who have completed all 12 years of education corresponding to Korea's primary and secondary education in foreign high schools.
Both admission types are reserved for candidates outside the regular quota, selected based on 100% document evaluation, and will comprehensively assess academic ability and potential through high school grades and teacher opinions.
After admission, a tailored academic program for global students will operate, which includes 100% English instruction throughout the curriculum, tuition exemption benefits equivalent to domestic students, and the operation of Korean language courses. From the 2027 academic year, admissions will be possible twice a year, in the spring and fall semesters, to flexibly accommodate various educational systems from different countries.
Lee Gang-bok, the head of the admissions office at Pohang University of Science and Technology POSTECH, noted, "We will enhance POSTECH's international competitiveness by establishing it as a university chosen by global talent."
