On the 16th, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it held the '2nd Korea-EU Semiconductor Researchers Forum' at the Jeju International Convention Center (ICC). This forum was held to share the results of semiconductor research cooperation between Korea and the European Union (EU) and to establish a foundation for international joint research collaboration with the United States, the United Kingdom, and others. Before the exchange of research results between the two countries' researchers, Vice Minister Lee Chang-yoon, representing the Korean government, and a councilor from the EU delegation in Korea addressed the attendees and introduced their respective research support programs.
The Korea Polar Research Institute announced that it will hold a discussion session titled 'Sustainable Arctic Shipping Routes Opening through Science' on the 19th at the first seminar room of the National Assembly Member's Office Building, with Representative Moon Dae-rim. This discussion will focus on exploring ways to utilize sustainable Arctic shipping routes from a scientific research perspective. Experts from various fields will look at the future of Arctic shipping routes, and in the later stages, domestic experts from various fields, including Arctic climate and environment, shipping and ports, policy, Arctic route prediction, and domestic and international cooperation, will engage in comprehensive discussions.
The University of Science and Technology (UST) announced that it will recruit new graduate students for the second round of the 2025 academic year. The selection of new students will include the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials (KIMM) School, the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) School, and the Korea Institute of Energy Technology (KIER) School. The admission guidelines can be found on the UST admissions homepage on the 20th, and the application period runs from 10 a.m. on the 26th to 5 p.m. on July 3rd. The final acceptance results will be announced on August 6th.
