On Nov. 11 (local time), the American weekly news magazine Newsweek announced its '2025 Asia-Pacific region's best specialized hospitals evaluation,' in which Asan Medical Center, Samsung Medical Center, and Seoul National University Hospital ranked first in a total of six fields.
The rankings were divided into nine fields, with Asan Medical Center taking first place in cardiology, endocrinology, and orthopedics. Samsung Medical Center ranked first in the fields of oncology and pulmonology. In pediatrics, Seoul National University Hospital was first.
In the endocrinology field, Asan Medical Center, Seoul National University Hospital, Samsung Medical Center, and Severance Hospital ranked 1st to 4th, while in the pulmonology field, Samsung Medical Center, Asan Medical Center, and Seoul National University Hospital took 1st to 3rd.
The fields in which Korean hospitals did not rank first were cardiac surgery, neurology, and neurosurgery, all of which were ranked first by the University of Tokyo Hospital. In cardiac surgery and neurology, Asan Medical Center ranked second, while in neurosurgery, Severance Hospital ranked second after the University of Tokyo Hospital.
Newsweek, in collaboration with the global research firm Statista, selects the world's best hospitals every February and the best hospitals in the Asia-Pacific region every June. This survey of the Asia-Pacific region ranked hospitals based on responses from over 8,000 medical professionals in 10 countries, including Korea, Japan, and Australia.
