■The Korea Institute of Fusion Energy announced on the 11th that it held a signing ceremony for cooperation with the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) affiliated Institute for Magnetic Fusion Research (IRFM) for joint research on fusion plasma operation technology based on a tungsten environment. The two institutions plan to conduct joint research on long-term plasma operation and control technology in a tungsten environment over the next three years.
■The Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology's National Research Safety Management Headquarters announced on the 11th that it hosted the "2025 Korean Biosafety Conference" at the Sono Calm Resort in Geoje, Gyeongnam. This year marks the 13th iteration of the conference, co-hosted by the National Research Safety Management Headquarters, Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency, National Institute of Fisheries Science, and Wildlife Disease Control Institute, with the Korea Biosafety Association coordinating the event. ■The Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute and the Navy's Electrical Analysis Testing Evaluation Unit held a signing ceremony on the 11th to promote technology development and exchanges in the field of next-generation ship electrification. The two institutions agreed to collaborate on research for the advancement of ship electrification design and construction technology, and to activate exchanges through data and information exchange, academic conferences, and seminars. The electric propulsion system drives the propulsion motors using power stored in batteries or power supplied from generators, making it environmentally friendly and cost-effective.
■Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) announced that on the 10th, it signed a strategic partnership agreement with Microsoft for "AI and digital transformation-based" cooperation at the university headquarters. Based on this agreement, the two institutions plan to actively apply AI technology in practice and to fully promote digital transformation specialized for the university. Attending the signing ceremony were Vice President for Academic Affairs Baek Sung-cheol, Director of Academic Information Kim Jae-jun, Information Strategy Team Leader Lim Jong-hee, and representatives from Microsoft Korea.
