■The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) announced on the 30th that the Urban Robotics Lab, led by Professor Myung-Hyun from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, secured first place overall at the prestigious '2025 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA)' NSS Challenge held in Atlanta, USA, from the 19th to the 23rd. The Urban Robotics Lab outperformed the second and third place teams from Northwestern Polytechnical University in China and National Taiwan University by a significant margin with its proprietary positioning estimation and mapping technology. The winning team will receive a prize of $4,000 (approximately 5.5 million won).
■The Korea Polar Research Institute held a research collaboration workshop on the 29th with the Korea Basic Science Institute (KBSI) at the Korea Polar Research Institute. This workshop was organized to coincide with the transfer of the KBSI metropolitan center to Songdo, where the Korea Polar Research Institute is located, aiming to explore joint research topics and discuss long-term cooperation directions. Shin Hyung-Chul, director of the Korea Polar Research Institute, said, "Since the Korea Polar Research Institute has field-based research capabilities and KBSI has advanced analytical infrastructure, complementary collaboration is possible, and I hope this leads to successful cases of convergence research among research institutions in Incheon."
■The Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI) announced that it successfully held the '2025 KERI Seminar on the Trends of Reused Battery Technology and Safety Utilization Measures' on the 29th at the Changwon Convention Center. This event was part of a project to revitalize the E-mobility industry ecosystem using reused batteries. The seminar consisted of presentations and Q&A sessions related to the introduction of the reused battery business, trends in the reused battery industry and safety assurance strategies, case studies from the remanufactured battery industry, examples of reused battery applications by corporations, and case studies on establishing a reused battery resource circulation platform.
