■Quantum security and computing corporation Norma announced on the 29th that it has signed a business agreement with Seoul National University Bundang Hospital's Biomedical Research Institute to innovate the healthcare industry using quantum technology. The two parties agreed to collaborate on joint technology development and commercialization of quantum computing in the healthcare sector, as well as joint research for medical technology improvement based on clinical data and medical data protection. In particular, they will officially embark on a joint research project aimed at improving genomic analysis performance through the application of quantum algorithms. The goal is to efficiently analyze genomic data using quantum computers and quantum algorithms, and to quickly identify specific genetic mutations.
■The Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI) held a session on the topic of "AI technology gaps and international cooperation: seeking inclusive digital transformation through science and technology policy" at the Jeju International Convention Center on the 28th. The session aimed to discuss multilayered policy measures to address the AI technology gap between countries and to propose cooperation models that align with the social and policy contexts of each country. Participants recognized that the AI technology gap is a structural challenge influenced by various factors, including institutional frameworks, social values, and energy infrastructure, and they agreed on the importance of a multilayered policy approach to address this issue.
■The Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI) announced on the 29th that, in celebration of 'Medical Device Day,' it will officially launch the 'STAR program' through the Changwon Intelligent Medical Device Support Center (CIMES) to support product development and market entry for medical device corporations. 'STAR' is an acronym derived from Simulation, Technology, Authorization, and Regulation, and it is a permanent consulting program targeted at medical device corporations. ■The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) will hold the 'ETRI Conference 2025' on the 5th at COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
