A 40-year-old female social worker passed away after saving five lives through organ donation.
The Korea Organ Donation Agency announced on the 27th that Lee Ji-hye, 43, died after donating her heart, lungs, liver, and both kidneys to five people at Inha University Hospital on March 22. She also donated human tissue to over 100 people. Lee lost consciousness and collapsed at home on March 18 and was taken to the hospital for treatment but did not regain consciousness.
Lee was born as the eldest daughter among three daughters in Incheon. With a bright and active personality, she engaged in volunteer work to help disabled individuals and children. She obtained a social worker certification and lived a life dedicated to helping others, even establishing a nursing home. Her family decided on organ donation, hoping she would leave this world having done something valuable.
Lee's daughter left this letter through the donation agency. "Mom, thank you for being with me all this time. I will live well while cherishing the good memories. Please be happy in heaven. I love you."
