The total project cost for the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) affiliated Artificial Intelligence (AI) gifted school has been confirmed at 66.5 billion won.
The Ministry of Science and ICT held the 'Fourth National Research and Development Project Evaluation General Committee' on the 9th, confirming the review results for the validity of the exemption project for the preliminary feasibility study in 2024.
The establishment project for the Gwangju GIST affiliated AI gifted school aims to set up a school specialized in the AI field. It meets the exemption criteria for the preliminary feasibility study, 'construction of primary and secondary educational facilities', and was exempted from the feasibility study in August of last year. The review results for the project plan confirmed the total project cost at 66.5 billion won.
Like the KAIST affiliated AI BIO gifted school, which began its establishment last year, this specialized school in strategic technology will be responsible for producing advanced personnel in the AI field. The project period is until 2027.
The results for selecting subjects for the first national research and development project preliminary feasibility study in 2025 were also announced. The Ministry of Environment's 'K-Circular Economy Reborn Project' supports the activation of key technologies for resource circulation development and commercialization. The Ministry of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and Startups' 'Core Export Items Carbon Reduction Technology Development' project aims to secure carbon reduction technology and support the development of verification technologies. Both projects will undergo a preliminary feasibility study for seven months to determine their implementation.
