HANDOK announced on the 8th that Professor Kim Kyeong-soo of the Endocrinology Department at Bundang CHA Hospital has been selected as the recipient of the 21st HANDOK Academic Award.
This award, organized by the Korean Diabetes Association and sponsored by HANDOK, is presented to medical professionals who have contributed to the advancement of diabetes research in South Korea.
Professor Kim was recognized for his contributions to the advancement of diabetes research in South Korea through active research activities. His prominent study examines the impact of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease on patients with type 2 diabetes. The research confirmed that non-alcoholic fatty liver disease increases the mortality rate from all causes, including cardiovascular issues, for diabetes patients.
The award ceremony for the HANDOK Academic Award will take place on the 10th during the 38th Spring Academic Conference of the Korean Diabetes Association, held at the Hwa-baek Convention Center in Gyeongju. Professor Kim will receive a cash prize and an additional award of 10 million won.
