The Korea Aerospace Research Institute announced on the 8th that it has applied to the Ministry of Economy and Finance for a review of the appropriateness of the changes to the next-generation launch vehicle development project.
The Korea Aerospace Research Institute is promoting reusability to enhance the competitiveness of the next-generation launch vehicle. It applied for a specific evaluation from the Ministry of Science and ICT for the swift implementation of the project, but was not selected as a candidate. The specific evaluation is only possible if the increase in budget due to project changes is within 15%, but it was determined that the planned changes to the next-generation launch vehicle development project would exceed that amount.
Instead of the specific evaluation, the Korea Aerospace Research Institute has initiated the procedure to change the project plan by undergoing a review of the appropriateness by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. However, the review process is conducted to the level of a preliminary feasibility study, which has hindered the Korea Aerospace Research Institute's plan to change the project plan quickly.
The Korea Aerospace Research Institute said, "We will actively cooperate in the review process of the appropriateness of the project plan to establish the project plan meticulously and ensure that the project can be carried out without additional delays."
