The National Gwacheon Science Museum, under the Ministry of Science and ICT, announced on May 1 that it will present a variety of science experience programs for future generations, ranging from creative activities to space observation, on Children's Day, May 5.
On Children's Day, the National Gwacheon Science Museum will operate a total of 26 types of science experience programs. There are 19 free reservation programs such as metal detector and mood lamp making, as well as 7 self-directed programs conducted on-site without reservations, including clay magnets and rubber-powered bird making, and giant Jenga games.
Astronomy programs themed around Mars and space are also notable. Starting at 7 p.m., the 'Dome Concert - Journey to Mars' (participation fee 10,000 won) will be held for participants aged elementary school and older in the planetarium, and at the same time, a 'Special Observation - Adults' Journey to Mars' will take place for adults. Pre-registered participants can take part in a Mars special lecture, direct observation, and interactive activities.
There are also various exhibition-related experiences. The Korean Science Civilization Hall will host a creative activity titled 'Children's Guardians' themed around bows, cannons, and turtle ships from May 3 to 4 and on the 6th, while the Insect Ecology Hall will offer sensory experiences with honeybees.
The survival adaptation experience 'Fit to Survive,' linked to the ongoing special exhibition 'Future Animals: Life Beyond the Great Extinction,' can be participated in through on-site registration three times a day on May 4 and 6.
Han Hyung-joo, director of the National Gwacheon Science Museum, noted, 'I hope this will be an opportunity for future generations to experience the joy of science and nurture their imagination.'
