A man in his 70s fell into a state of brain death after an accident while repairing the roof of the community center, saving three lives through organ donation before passing away.
The Korea Organ Donation Agency announced on the 22nd that Mr. Jeong Dae-soon (73) passed away after donating his liver and kidneys to three individuals at Kyungpook National University Hospital on the 24th of last month. Mr. Jeong had been receiving treatment after suffering a fall on the 13th of last month but did not regain consciousness.
Mr. Jeong was born as the youngest of three sons and four daughters in Bonghwa County, North Gyeongsang Province. He was diligent, waking up every day at 4 a.m. to work in orchards and poultry farms from the age of 14. Mr. Jeong had a bright and cheerful personality and enjoyed socializing with others. He often said, "If I can help someone at the end of my life, I want to share what I have and leave."
His family respected Mr. Jeong's wishes and decided to proceed with organ donation. His son and daughter left this letter through the donation agency: "Dear beloved father, your diligence in leading our family has been a great lesson for us. We respect you for leading by example in everything and for your dedication. Thank you for all your hard work. Rest peacefully."
