Chong Kun Dang Academy announced on the 22nd that Daedong Tax High School is set to publish 'Daedong 100 Years of History,' commemorating its 100th anniversary this year, along with a publication ceremony and dedication ceremony in June.
Daedong Tax High School held its 100th anniversary ceremony on the 18th at the Gochon Hall in the main building of the academy in Gye-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by various dignitaries including Kim Dong-ik, chairman of Chong Kun Dang Academy, Lee Jang-han, chairman of Chong Kun Dang, Jeong Jae-jeong, chairman of the Chong Kun Dang Foundation, and Choi Young-jae, principal of Daedong Tax High School, along with Song Myung-seop, president of the alumni association, as well as over 800 current students, alumni, and faculty.
In 1925, during the Japanese occupation, teacher Seo Am Go Chang-han established Daedong Academy to help marginalized youth gain independence through education. Subsequently, in 1987, the founder of Chong Kun Dang, Lee Jong-geun, established the legal entity 'Gochon Academy' and has operated the school since then. Chairman Lee Jang-han actively supported the establishment of new curricula aimed at nurturing global talent in the tax field and improving educational facilities and environments. In 2008, the school changed its name to 'Daedong Tax High School,' solidifying its identity as a specialized vocational high school focused on tax and accounting.
Lee Jang-han, chairman of Chong Kun Dang, noted, "The philosophy that young people should not have to suspend their studies due to economic difficulties is a noble spirit shared by the late Lee Jong-geun, who dedicated his life to scholarship. I am committed to preserving the essence of education and nurturing talent. I hope Daedong Tax High School stands tall as a cradle of education that opens up a future led by digital and AI advancements."
