On the 20th anniversary of the launch of the domestic technology-developed adhesion barrier "Gadix," Genewel stated that it will "expand into the global market."
On the 22nd, Shin Joon-seop, Deputy Minister of Hanmi Science, noted that Genewel and Hanmi Science will strengthen market competitiveness through strategies such as customized marketing for small and medium-sized hospitals at a press conference for the 20th anniversary of Gadix's launch held at The Plaza Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul.
Gadix is a specialized medical device that suppresses the phenomenon of abnormal adhesion of tissues or organs after surgery. Gadix SG is a temperature-sensitive product that changes to a gel form due to body temperature and adheres closely to the surgical area, effectively preventing adhesions.
Utilized in various specialized medical fields including surgery, obstetrics, and orthopedics, it is the number one product in the domestic adhesion barrier market, first developed and launched by Genewel with domestic technology in 2005, with Hanmi Science taking charge of domestic marketing and sales.
Genewel announced plans to develop a film-type product that goes beyond the existing gel-type adhesion barrier. In addition, it plans to obtain European CE MDR certification for existing products to further expand into the global market.
Han Sang-deok, CEO of Genewel said, "After a bold investment in research and development during a time when we relied entirely on imports for adhesion barriers, we were able to introduce the domestic technology-based adhesion barrier 'Gadix.' In the future, we will continue to contribute to creating a better medical environment through constant technological innovation."
During the meeting, Professor Kang Sang-wook of the Endocrine Surgery Department at Severance Hospital and Professor Kim Tae-joong of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Samsung Seoul Hospital introduced cases utilizing Gadix for thyroid surgery and uterine fibroid surgery, respectively.
Professor Kang Sang-wook noted, "Using an adhesion barrier after thyroid surgery can effectively prevent adhesions, helping to alleviate adhesion-related symptoms such as swallowing difficulties or discomfort in neck movements."
