The National Gwacheon Science Museum announced that it will operate a regular summer education program for infants and elementary school students every weekend from May 10 to July 6. This program will run a total of 40 classes in 20 types over eight weeks, adding an exhibition inquiry process in addition to themes, experiments, creation, and information (SW) exploration. Applications for the program can be made starting on the 24th through the online learning management system of the National Gwacheon Science Museum.
The Korea Aerospace Administration noted that it attended the 'Amazon Web Services (AWS) Space Day 2025' event held in Seoul on the 16th to announce policy directions regarding satellite space missions and cloud utilization strategies. This event, co-hosted by AWS and MegaZone Cloud, attracted over 60 representatives from about 20 corporations related to domestic and international space satellites. The space agency introduced strategies for the utilization of artificial intelligence-based technologies in space missions during the event.
The Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS) announced that KIAS Scholar Oh Hee, has been selected as the keynote speaker for the 2026 International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM). The KIAS Scholar program invites world-renowned scholars to Korea to interact with domestic mathematicians. Professor Oh is the first female tenured professor in the mathematics department at Yale University and visits Korea every summer to engage with local mathematicians. She has achieved remarkable accomplishments in the fields of discrete subgroups of Lie groups, dynamics of homogeneous spaces, and applications in number theory, including being the first Korean recipient of the Satter Prize from the American Mathematical Society in 2015, winning the Ho-Am Prize in 2018, and being elected as the first Korean vice president of the American Mathematical Society in 2020.
The Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science & Creativity announced that on the morning of the 16th, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of liberation, Chairman Chung Woo-sung and key officials paid their respects at the National Daejeon Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery. This tribute was conducted to promote a culture of honoring and respecting the contributions of individuals in science and technology in line with the April Science Month. Chairman Chung visited the graves of the late Dr. Choi Hyung-seop, the late Dr. Choi Soon-dal, and the late Dr. Kim Jae-gwan, offering flowers and silent prayers. They also honored the late researcher Jeon Jae-kyu, who died in the line of duty while trying to rescue a colleague at the King Sejong Station in Antarctica in 2003.
