The Korean Intellectual Property Office has increased the number of specialized patent examiners in biopharmaceuticals and established dedicated examination organizations in March to provide faster and more professional reviews of patent applications in the biopharmaceutical sector.
The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute announced it signed a memorandum of understanding for nuclear technology cooperation with the Argonne National Laboratory under the U.S. Department of Energy. The two institutions have decided to strengthen their nuclear research and development partnership in various fields, including advanced reactor technology. The Korea Institute of Fusion Energy announced on the 15th that it held a 'Korea-U.S. fusion research cooperation expert meeting' at the main building of the institute. Participants included Micky Wade, deputy director of Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), a national laboratory under the U.S. Department of Energy, and Joe Snipes, deputy director of Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL). From the Korean side, Oh Young-guk, director of the fusion energy research institute, Yoon Si-woo, deputy director, and Nam Yong-woon, head of the KSTAR research center, participated. The two institutions plan to conduct joint research on superconducting magnets, blankets, and fusion reactor design.
Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) announced it will hold a 'Smart Manufacturing Solutions Summit' at Change Up Ground on the 25th.
