Lee Dong-wook, CEO of HD Hyundai XiteSolution, Ahn Hyun, President of Development at SK hynix, Choi Joo-sun, CEO of Samsung SDI, and Jang In-hwa, Chairman of POSCO Holdings, received the '2025 Distinguished Alumni Award' from the College of Engineering at Seoul National University.
This award is given to alumni of Seoul National University's College of Engineering who have made significant contributions to industrial technology development or achieved notable academic success, thereby enhancing the university's reputation. Since 1993, a total of 117 individuals have received the award, including 34 in the international activity sector and 83 in the domestic activity sector.
This year's awardee, Lee Dong-wook, CEO of HD Hyundai XiteSolution, graduated from the Department of Mechanical Design in 1983 and has led the commercialization of technology in the construction machinery sector at HD HYUNDAI INFRACORE. He is currently driving the digital transformation of the domestic construction machinery sector, including demonstrations of unmanned automated construction sites.
Ahn Hyun, President of Development at SK hynix, graduated from the Department of Nuclear Engineering in 1990 and has been leading research and development in semiconductor technology at SK hynix. He plays a crucial role in the development of AI-oriented Total Memory Solution products and is working to enhance the global competitiveness of the domestic semiconductor industry.
Choi Joo-sun, CEO of Samsung SDI, graduated from the Department of Electronic Engineering in 1986 and has significantly contributed to the OLED field, leading the development of foldable displays through his work at Samsung Electronics and Samsung Display. He is currently spearheading innovation in the domestic secondary battery sector by popularizing advanced technology.
Jang In-hwa, Chairman of POSCO Holdings, who graduated from the Department of Naval Architecture in 1981, has driven the advancement of materials industries such as steel and secondary batteries within the POSCO Group for the past 30 years. He has served as the Chairman of the Korea Iron and Steel Association and an executive committee member of the World Steel Association, contributing to the development of Korea's manufacturing and engineering sectors both domestically and internationally.
Kim Young-o, Dean of the College of Engineering at Seoul National University, noted, "Over the years, our college has produced engineering talent that can make the impossible possible and drive change in the world. I extend my utmost respect to the passion and efforts of these four proud alumni who have led the development of various industries." He added, "In the future, we will actively discover and promote the achievements of our alumni who have pioneered the development of South Korea."
