The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 1st that Minister Yoo Sang-im held a video call with Michael Kratsios, the new Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). Kratsios previously served as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the United States and held the position of assistant secretary of defense for research and engineering during the Trump administration.
The Ministry of Science and ICT stated that Minister Yoo requested support from Director Kratsios to ensure the continuity of scientific and technological cooperation between the governments and research institutions of South Korea and the United States.
Director Kratsios reportedly reaffirmed that South Korea is a key partner of the United States, noting that strengthening scientific and technological cooperation is very important.
The Ministry of Science and ICT explained that "both sides agreed to closely communicate to further expand scientific and technological cooperation for mutual benefit."
