This year, among the students enrolled in the Yonsei University College of Medicine for the first semester, only one student has not registered.

Choi Jae-young, the dean of Yonsei University's medical school, noted in a notice sent to professors on the 28th, "Despite the concerns of many professors, the majority of students clearly expressed their intention to participate in classes and completed their re-enrollment applications," and added, "As of 5 p.m. today, all students except for one have completed their re-enrollment applications and registration."

He further stated, "As a result, our university has had one dropout."

Yonsei University is the first among the 40 medical colleges nationwide to have a dropout case.

Dean Choi mentioned, "On one hand, it's fortunate; however, to continue normal classes in the future, there will be many hurdles to overcome," adding, "The most concerning part is the presence of students who disrupt classes after their re-enrollment."

Additionally, he emphasized, "The top priority in the future management of the medical college will be to protect the students who wish to participate sincerely in classes," and said, "Students who do not attend classes will be put on probation based on their attendance record, and if any disruptive behavior is discovered, we will hold a disciplinary committee immediately to respond."

Earlier, Yonsei University’s medical school had planned to designate a registration deadline on the 21st and process the dropouts for students who did not register.

However, after the Yonsei Medical School Student Emergency Response Committee changed its direction of struggle to "register and then take a leave of absence" the day before, the school extended the registration deadline to 5 p.m. that day.

In the case of Seoul National University’s College of Medicine, it is reported that all registered candidates completed their registration by the day before.

The student council at Seoul National University’s College of Medicine announced the results of the vote related to the "registration protest" held from the night before until the following morning, explaining, "Continuing the protest in an unregistered status is practically difficult, so we decided to continue our struggle through either a leave of absence after registration or a class boycott."
