Jung Ki-seok, the chairman of the National Health Insurance Service, has been found to hold the largest assets among key public officials in the health care sector.
According to asset registration details for high-ranking officials released by the Government Officials Ethics Committee in the electronic Gazette on the 27th, Chairman Jung reported assets of 9.49963 billion won as of the end of last year. This is a reduction of 75.51 million won compared to the previous year's reported assets.
Chairman Jung saw a decrease in assets across most categories. The value of a property jointly owned with his spouse in Seocho-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, decreased by 89 million won to 1.359 billion won. The amount on deposit is 3.99325 billion won, approximately 300 million won less than the previous year. Securities holdings increased by 284.57 million won compared to last year, now reported at 1.89942 billion won. Chairman Jung holds stocks and unlisted stocks in NH All One REITs, Tongyang Life Insurance, Samsung Electronics, and JR Global REIT, as well as corporate bonds.
Next, Oh Yu-kyung, the Minister of Food and Drug Safety, reported assets of 7.4825 billion won, placing second. This is an increase of 1.14352 billion won compared to the previously reported assets of 6.26472 billion won. The category with the largest increase in assets is deposits; Minister Oh reported 2.70678 billion won in deposits, an increase of 700.32 million won compared to the previous year. Securities assets decreased from 3.46887 billion won to 3.25351 billion won.
Kang Jung-gu, the chairman of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, reported assets of 5.82601 billion won, ranking third. This is a decrease of 368.75 million won from the previous year's reported assets. Following him, Ha Il-soo, the chairman of the International Health and Medical Foundation, reported assets of 5.424 billion won. Ha reported 140.4 million won in jewelry, including diamond rings and bracelets owned by his spouse.
