Kim Eun-woo, president of Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology, has been revealed to have the highest wealth among key public officials in the science and technology sector.
The president reported a wealth of 20.53119 billion won as of the end of last year in the public disclosure of officials' wealth released on the 27th. This represents an increase of about 8.32888 billion won from the 12.223 billion won reported a year ago. He saw the largest increase in wealth among 2,047 individuals subject to disclosure.
Most of his wealth, including buildings, deposits, and securities, increased across the board. The value of the apartment complex in Bangbae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, rose from 864.5 million won to 1.334 billion won, and the total deposits of him and his spouse increased from 2.07111 billion won to 2.76837 billion won.
The largest increase was in securities, which rose from 4.21929 billion won to 12.27286 billion won, thanks to a surge in the value of the unlisted stocks he holds. He owns 24,930 shares of Daeryuk GS, 21,208 shares of Genos, 325 shares of LK Consulting, and 2,000 shares of the Korea Creativity Society. The value of his unlisted stocks increased from 3.72430 billion won to 11.19127 billion won.
Following him, Noh Do-young, head of the Institute for Basic Science, reported a wealth of 17.71449 billion won, placing second, while Ryu Kwang-jun, head of the Ministry of Science and ICT's Science and Technology Innovation Bureau, reported 14.36083 billion won, coming in third. Noh's wealth increased by about 2 billion won thanks to an increase in land and deposits held by his spouse, whereas Ryu's wealth decreased by about 900 million won due to a decline in the value of his stock holdings.
Minister Yoo Sang-im reported a wealth of 1.46509 billion won, while Korean Intellectual Property Office Commissioner Kim Wan-ki reported 961.64 million won, and Korea Meteorological Administration Administrator Jang Dong-eon reported 2.19069 billion won. Among the Ministry of Science and ICT officials, Lim Yo-eup, the Science and Technology Innovation Coordinator, reported the highest wealth at 4.86627 billion won.
Yoon Young-bin, head of the Korea Space Agency, reported 3.91158 billion won, while John Lee, head of the Space Operations Mission Bureau, reported 4.41050 billion won. John Lee also stated he holds 3,663 Algorand coins.
Additionally, Lee Gwang-hyung, president of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, reported 6.53937 billion won, Jung Hee-kwon, chairman of the Research and Development Special Zone Promotion Foundation, reported 4.62358 billion won, and Oh Sang-rok, president of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology, reported 2.34263 billion won.
