Baek Se-beom, a professor in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), has been appointed as an associate editor in the neuroscience section of the journal Science Advances.
Science Advances is an online sister journal of Science, published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), covering influential research across all fields of science. It is known for its high barrier to entry, with an acceptance rate of only 8.2%.
Professor Baek is a first-generation computational neuroscientist in South Korea, pioneering the field of computational neuroscience by systematically linking and explaining various phenomena in neuroscience through theoretical model-based brain research. Recently, he has been conducting research on cognitive intelligence development theories based on comparisons between brain neural networks and artificial neural networks.
Professor Baek said, "I am very pleased to be active as an editorial board member of a prestigious journal as a faculty member of KAIST," and noted, "In the future, I want to contribute to the development and direction setting of neuroscience research through reviewing and publishing various research results in the field of neuroscience, as well as engaging with researchers around the world."
