Kwon Seok-yun, a senior researcher at the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB), has been appointed the new director of KRIBB.
The National Research Council of Science and Technology (NST) held its 225th extraordinary board meeting on the 13th, during which it noted the appointment of Kwon as the director of KRIBB. His term will last three years, starting from March 14.
The new director graduated from Seoul National University in 1987 and obtained a master's degree in botany in 1989 and a doctorate in biology in 1996 from the same university.
He joined KRIBB in 1991 and has since served as deputy director and head of the Department of Convergence Biological Materials Research. He has also held positions such as director of the Korean Society for Molecular and Cellular Biology, vice president of the Korean Bioeconomics Society, and representative professor at the University of Science and Technology (UST) KRIBB School.
