Kyunghee University announced on the 6th that Professor Yeon Dong-geon has been selected as a fellow of the American Thoracic Society (ATS). This marks the first time a domestic physician member has been selected as a fellow by the ATS.

Professor Yeon earned his bachelor's degree at Korea University, graduated from the College of Medicine at CHA University, and obtained his medical license. He worked at Bundang CHA Hospital and Seoul National University Hospital, and is currently a professor at the College of Medicine at Kyunghee University. He also serves as the head of the Digital Health Department and deputy director of the Digital Health Center at Kyunghee University.

Professor Yeon is an expert in pediatric allergy and has published over 400 academic papers to date. He has been recognized as a fellow by the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, and the American Thoracic Society, and has received prestigious awards, including the Young Investigator Award from the American Thoracic Society.

The American Thoracic Society, founded in 1905, is the world's largest society in the field of thoracic and respiratory diseases. Fellow status is granted to researchers who have contributed to public health through their research and academic achievements, clinical education, and social contributions. Professor Yeon's research accomplishments in the fields of respiratory medicine and allergy have been recognized for his use of big data and artificial intelligence (AI).

Professor Yeon noted, “I will strive even harder to conduct leading research in areas that require public health research.”
