The Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency will host a meeting of the Health Working Group (HWG) under the Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM) of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) from the 4th to the 6th in Gyeongju.
South Korea is the APEC chair this year. The theme of this Health Working Group meeting is "Health coverage for all for a sustainable tomorrow."
Around 180 participants, including representatives from 18 member economies such as the United States, Japan, and China, as well as academia, corporations, and stakeholders from the private sector, will discuss key tasks such as strengthening global cooperation for health crisis response and improving universal health coverage utilizing digital technology.
The Ministry plans to support each delegation and corporations in fostering opportunities for practical collaboration.
Minister Jeong Kyu-hong noted, "We will continue communicating until the summit meeting (AELM) scheduled for October and lead to joint results, fulfilling our role as a responsible partner in the Asia-Pacific region."
