Noh Yeon-hong has been re-elected as the chairman of the Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Association.
The Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Association noted on the 19th that it held its first board meeting for the year 2025 at the association auditorium in Seocho, Seoul, on the 18th, and passed a resolution to appoint Chairman Noh as the next chairman. His term will be two years starting from March this year.
Chairman Noh's reappointment will be reported at the 80th regular general meeting, which will be held on the 25th. Accordingly, he was inaugurated as the 22nd chairman in March 2023, and while his term was set to expire in February this year, he will extend his tenure until February 2027.
Chairman Noh said, "I feel a heavy responsibility because I am well aware of the tasks assigned to the pharmaceutical and bio-pharma industry and the association. I promise to move forward with endless challenges and innovations in line with the efforts of the industry, which has achieved meaningful results in a difficult environment."
He added, "The association, which started as the Chosun Pharmaceutical Industry Association in October 1945, has been a key pillar for national health and the economy over the past 80 years, growing alongside the pharmaceutical and bio-pharma industry. I will strengthen the association's role to enable Korea to leap forward as a global pharmaceutical and bio-pharma powerhouse, and I will make every effort to drive sustainable growth and innovation together with member companies."
Chairman Noh graduated from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in 1983 and passed the 27th Administrative Service Examination. He then held key positions, including Director of the Insurance Benefits Division and General Affairs Division at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and Secretary to the Minister. He also served as the Secretary for Health and Welfare at the presidential office, Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, and Senior Secretary for Employment and Welfare. Afterward, he became the Vice President of Gachon University and an advisor at Kim & Chang Law Firm before being appointed as chairman of the Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Association.
On the same day, the Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Association also held its second meeting of the board of directors, where it approved the business performance and settlement of accounts for 2024, as well as the business plan and budget for 2025. The resolutions passed at the board meeting will be finalized at the 80th regular general meeting, which will also host an awards ceremony for those who have made contributions to the pharmaceutical and bio-pharma industry.
