A red nebula resembling a seagull and a blue nebula resembling Thor's helmet have been captured in a photograph. The red nebula is a merger of two massive emission nebulae. The nebula at the head position, NGC2327, and the nebula that appears to be the wings, IC2177, take on the shape of a seagull or duck. The IC2177 nebula stretches up to 250 light-years (1 light-year is the distance light travels in one year, approximately 9.46 trillion kilometers). Below right, there is a small nebula about 50 light-years long. This nebula, named NGC2359, is also known as "Thor's helmet."
