On the 14th, Lee Joong-geun, chairman of Booyoung Group, received an honorary Doctor of Business Administration degree at the graduation ceremony of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).
A KAIST official noted, "Chairman Lee Joong-geun has not spared his dedicated support for the development of domestic science and technology and the cultivation of future talent. He is being awarded an honorary doctorate in recognition of his contributions to social responsibility in various fields, including support for scholarships and educational facilities, as well as domestic and international education, culture, veterans, and overseas support."
Last year, Lee donated 20 billion won to completely remodel four aging dormitories at KAIST. The four buildings, which were most requested by students, are undergoing phased renovations to improve the research environment, and among them, the Nanum Hall has completed its remodeling and has been named "Woojeong (宇庭) Research Building" after the donor's pen name.
Chairman Lee Joong-geun expressed, "I am honored to receive an honorary doctorate from KAIST, and I hope KAIST students will grow into global talents who contribute to national development while nurturing their dreams and talents."
