Kang Dae-im, former president of the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science, has been inaugurated as the 6th president of the University of Science and Technology (UST). The term is four years.
The new president, Kang, was born in Jeju and earned a doctorate in mechanical engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). He served as the Deputy Minister at the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science and later as the president. He has held positions as the president of the International Measurement Confederation (IMEKO), the president of the Council of Science and Technology Institutions, and an advisory member of the National Science and Technology Advisory Council.
President Kang is scheduled to hold his inauguration ceremony at the UST auditorium on the afternoon of 12th. He said, "I will expand educational initiatives to foster challenge-oriented talent through education in entrepreneurship, and strengthen links between industry, academia, and research, thereby enhancing UST's role in local development and expanding value creation educational models," and noted, "I will endeavor to strengthen the operational base to ensure sustainable and stable development."
