On the 6th, the natural compound drug development corporation Mterapharma and the microbiome corporation PLB&B announced they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for business related to the development of functional probiotics and microbiome-based drug development.
Through this agreement, the two corporations will collaborate on the ongoing new drug pipeline, functional probiotics, and the development of new functional probiotics. This includes the development of microbiome drugs using plant extracts and joint ventures in the entire cycle of prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics.
The two corporations will also jointly develop psychobiotics for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. Psychobiotics refer to prebiotics that have a positive effect on mental health.
Mterapharma has four new drug pipelines, including the Parkinson's disease treatment 'MT101.' MT101 has received Phase II clinical trial approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The diabetic neuropathy pain treatment 'MT9801' has completed Phase II clinical trials and has signed an exclusive technology transfer agreement with Metavia, a subsidiary of Dong-A ST.
PLB&B is a corporation that possesses more than 14,000 antibiotic-resistant strains and over 3,000 probiotic strains. It has secured 30 strains certified by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and holds more than 30 probiotics patents.
