The liability Bachaekyo Foundation and the Korean Medical Association said on the 24th that they selected Professor Kim Geon-sang, an emeritus professor at Chung-Ang University, as the recipient of the '10th Korean Medical Association Medical Contribution Award' and Professor Kim Joo-han of Seoul National University College of Medicine as the recipient of the '15th Yoon Kwang-yeol Medical Award.'
The Korean Medical Association Medical Contribution Award is granted to individuals or organizations that have contributed to the foundation of medical advancement in the country. Emeritus Professor Kim Geon-sang was selected as this year's recipient in recognition of his contributions to the development of medical academic societies.
During his tenure as a professor at Chung-Ang University College of Medicine, Emeritus Professor Kim served as the director of medical affairs, hospital director, and the 19th president of the Korean Medical Association. Subsequently, he faithfully executed his social responsibilities and roles as a medical professional while serving as the president of the Korea Health Personnel Licensing Examination Institute and the Korea Institute for Medical Accreditation and Evaluation.
The Yoon Kwang-yeol Medical Award is an award co-established in 2009 by the Korean Medical Association and the liability Bachaekyo Foundation to encourage domestic scholars to submit their global research achievements to domestic academic journals and to drive the internationalization of Korean medical journals. The award recognizes papers published in the Journal of the Korean Mathematical Society (JKMS) over the past 10 years, based on the highest total citation counts and the impact factors (IF) of the citing journals.
Professor Kim Joo-han, the recipient of the 15th Yoon Kwang-yeol Medical Award, was selected for his paper as the lead author titled 'Real-world evidence vs. randomized controlled trials: Clinical research based on electronic medical records.'
