The government will designate hospitals and clinics to remain open during the Lunar New Year holiday from the 25th to the 30th, allowing citizens to use medical institutions.
According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare on the 23rd, an average of 16,815 hospitals and pharmacies across the country will be open during this Lunar New Year holiday. This is a larger scale than last year's Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays.
Using the emergency medical portal (e-gen, www.e-gen.or.kr), citizens can easily find nearby open hospitals and pharmacies by calling the Ministry of Health and Welfare call center at 129 or the local call centers at 120.
Naver Map and Kakao Map also provide information on emergency rooms and holiday medical institutions. The ministry urged individuals to contact the institution directly by phone before visiting.
If you are unwell during the holiday, it is advisable to first visit an open local hospital or a small emergency room for treatment. A total of 232 regional emergency medical institutions and 112 emergency medical facilities will be in operation.
If the symptoms are not severe, treatment can be received at the visited medical institution based on the doctor's judgment. If the examination results indicate suspected severe illness, transfer to a larger hospital is possible.
In cases of severe symptoms commonly associated with severe illnesses, such as difficulty breathing, sudden numbness in the limbs, or difficulty speaking due to tongue paralysis, you should immediately call 119. You can receive consultations regarding your symptoms through 119, and depending on the severity judgment of the 119 emergency team, you will be transferred to a suitable hospital. It is recommended to actively utilize this option if you find it difficult to assess your symptoms alone.
