Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, has postponed the first test launch of ‘New Glenn,’ a large reusable launch vehicle from his space corporations Blue Origin.

Blue Origin noted in a notice around 3:15 a.m. on the 13th (local time) that it would delay the first test launch of New Glenn, which was scheduled for that day. Blue Origin only stated, via 'X,' that the postponement was due to a problem with the rocket's subsystems, and did not disclose specific details. Blue Origin may attempt to launch by the 16th, but the next launch schedule has not yet been announced.

New Glenn is a two-stage rocket, standing 98 meters tall and measuring 7 meters in diameter. It is designed to carry a maximum payload of 13 tons to geostationary orbit (GEO) and up to 45 tons to low Earth orbit (LEO).

New Glenn is larger than SpaceX's flagship reusable launch vehicle Falcon 9, which has a length of 70 meters. The transport weight of New Glenn is 45 tons, double that of Falcon 9 at 23 tons. Although it is smaller than SpaceX's next-generation rocket Starship, it is expected to share the payload launch market with Falcon 9 until Starship is commercialized.

Blue Origin aimed to conduct the New Glenn launch on the 10th and 12th, but the launch has been delayed due to worsening weather conditions in the Atlantic. For this flight, New Glenn will carry a dummy payload called 'Blue Ring Pathfinder' instead of an actual commercial satellite or payload. After transporting the Blue Ring Pathfinder to low Earth orbit, the first stage rocket, which completes its mission, plans to land on the drone ship 'Jacklyn' waiting in the Atlantic Ocean. Jacklyn is named after Bezos's mother.

Blue Origin has been developing New Glenn since 2016. Jarrett Jones, senior vice president of Blue Origin, said in a statement on the 8th, 'It’s time to fly now,' adding, 'Whatever happens, we will learn and improve and apply that knowledge to the next launch.'
